29 May 2012
Hello! Today’s excuse to procrastinate a little longer has just arrived in the form of another CUMaSKini!
The CUMaS Garden Party is coming up, right as terms ends! Its location may be a mystery for now, but there’s no mystery about the wonderful, delicious Malaysian food to be served! Looking further into the future, our friends at the Oxford University Malaysia Club are holding a dialogue with Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad in the summer (in Putrajaya). Also, here’s a gentle reminder that the Parenting Scheme is still open.
Finally, to everyone, good luck in your exams!

Dear friends,

The meeting will provide an insightful opportunity for us to hear Tun’s views on a range of national and international issues, as well as his vast personal experience in having helmed our nation for 22 years as Prime Minister. We also look forward to sharing our own views and opinions with Tun.
Details are as follows:
Date: 27th June 2012 (Wed)
Time: 3.00pm – 5.00pm
Venue: Perdana Leadership Foundation, PutrajayaIf you would like to take part, please e-mail Jiann Meng (publicity [at] cumas.org) with your full name and contact details. 3. Reminder: Parenting Scheme!
It is the time of the year when we officially welcome another batch of freshers into our CUMaS family! We will be trying something very different this year that is CUMaS members will have the option to choose their respective “wives” or “husbands”.The fun part is that you may choose to propose to your prospective husband/wife however you wish. Alternatively, you may choose to have us allocate you a partner. Please note that:
- Members should try to pair up with members from other colleges and/or subject, so that it will be easier for the Welfare Officer to allocate kids.
- Choosing parents outside of your respective cliques (if any) are encouraged.
- Marriages should not be based on pre-existing relationships.
- We will do our best to accommodate your marriage proposals, but we may have to reallocate spouses to ensure all freshers have suitable parents.
Please note that those who sign up for the parenting scheme are responsible for the welfare of their respective families, especially that of their kids – which includes welcoming and always checking up on their kids, meeting up with their families and being a friend/help where needed.
So, if you are interested in becoming parents for the incoming freshers, start spouse-hunting now and please sign up by 15th of July 2012 using this form: bit.ly/CUMaSParents12
(Only one person from each “marriage” is required to fill in the form)
If there are any enquiries, feel free to email our Welfare Officer, Stephanie, at welfare [at] cumas.org.
