The duration of the scholarship will be for the full course of study, as stipulated in the offer of admission, subject to Yayasan Khazanah’s terms and conditions.

The scholarship is open to all Malaysians planning to pursue or are currently pursuing undergraduate and postgraduate studies in Cambridge.

Interviews will be conducted on March 24, 2011 in Cambridge. Kindly submit your applications as soon as possible or contact Daniel 07515701808 / dzyt2@cam.ac.uk

4. Bone Marrow Registry

We would like to draw your attention to: BE A MATCH, SAVE A LIFE! This is for joining the bone marrow and stem cell registry.

HELD IN: UMNEY ROOM, ROBINSON COLLEGE
TIME: 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM ON WEDNESDAY, 16th MARCH

IF YOU ARE AGED 18-40 YEARS AND IN GOOD HEALTH, COME BY AND JOIN THE ANTHONY NOLAN BONE MARROW AND STEM CELL DONOR REGISTRY.

Three year old Rayan and twelve year old Zoha are like any other Pakistani child in all aspects except the fact that they face a very imminent threat to their lives- Rayan is suffering from leukameia [blood cancer] while Zoha has been left disabled with a condition called osteopetrosis [marble bone disease]. The families of both these children desperately need to find a matching stem cell donor to ensure their survival.

This appeal goes out especially to the South Asian community [although anyone is welcome to come forth and register] as they are underrepresented on the UK bone marrow donor register and there is no such national registry in Pakistan [or India].

The registration process entails:

1. Completing an application form and reading a short donor guide 2. Talking to Cambridge Marrow counsellors who will answer all questions you may have 3. And giving a saliva sample
All three steps take under 30 minutes to complete.

Your saliva sample will be checked for your tissue type, and you will be sent a registration card to confirm that your name is on the register. If you are a tissue match, you will be called upon to donate your stem cells which could help save Rayan or Zoha’s life.

It is hoped that you will join hands with Cambridge University Pakistan Society and Cambridge Marrow to help grow the Anthony Nolan register. Please some between 5:30pm and 8:30 pm and make a difference to someone’s life. RSVP on the facebook page:
