Happy holidays, undergrads!
With summer celebrations in full swing, there are only a few events left to participate in. If you’re still in Cambridge, the Cambridge University Energy Network is holding its Annual Conference tomorrow. On the other hand if you’re in Malaysia, the Oxford University Malaysia Club has organised a talk with Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad on Wednesday. Be sure to sign up for either event if you’re interested!
If you haven’t taken part yet, consider becoming a parent for the incoming freshers next year! Just sign up for the Parenting Scheme below. Also, if you have spare stuff to sell or need new items for the next year, have a look at the Jumble Sale list.
Have a great summer!
The end of the academic year is almost upon us! Come and celebrate in Churchill College at the CUMaS Garden Party! We are also proud to announce that we have won some funding in the Talentcorp Granted competition! (There’s a fun video involved.) Also in this issue, a few reminders: signups for the dialogue session with Dr. Mahathir is still open, as are signups for the Parenting Scheme. Also, the deadline for the Ethos Business Brain Olympics is fast approaching, so send in your entries soon!
Hello! Today’s excuse to procrastinate a little longer has just arrived in the form of another CUMaSKini!
The CUMaS Garden Party is coming up, right as terms ends! Its location may be a mystery for now, but there’s no mystery about the wonderful, delicious Malaysian food to be served! Looking further into the future, our friends at the Oxford University Malaysia Club are holding a dialogue with Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad in the summer (in Putrajaya). Also, here’s a gentle reminder that the Parenting Scheme is still open.
Finally, to everyone, good luck in your exams!
Apologies for the slightly short notice, but the Easter Formal has been confirmed! Come over and relax from your studies (yes, again!) in what may quite likely be your last event before the exams. And while you’re there, congratulate our sports contingent for a great victory in the Oxbridge Games last week! Also this week, a few amendments were made to the parenting scheme. And for those involved in Malaysian Night, you are cordially invited to the MNight dinner! (in a separate email).
It’s finally here! Cambridge has won the Boat Race (and Goat Race), and it is now time for us to win the almost-as-prestigious Malaysian Oxbridge Games! This Sunday, come and support our brave warriors as they fight against our bitter rivals from Oxford. Come rain or shine (most probably rain), this is sure to be a great day full of sports, free food and fun!
May the odds be ever in our favour.
Of course, it’s not all fun and games in this newsletter. If you’re planning to pursue a graduate course in Arts and Humanities, consider applying for the Tunku Abdul Rahman Graduate Scholarship. And for the photographers, the UKEC is holding a photography competition.
Hello fellow CUMaS members! Easter is coming, and we all know what that means: revision, exams and new newsletter layouts. But do not despair, for we have plenty of events to distract you from your books over the term:
Take a look at our term card for next year (and watch out for news about the upcoming Easter formal). Get excited as we pummel our counterparts to the ground in the Oxbridge Games! Experience the joys (and none of the horrors) of raising children (a.k.a. freshers) by taking part in the Parenting Scheme! Show off your business acumen in the Ethos Business Brain Olympics! And say hello to our new bronze sponsor: Analysys Mason!
