***In reference area please state : Name & Freshers’ Formal
Sign up here: https://docs.google.com/
Facebook event page: http://www.facebook.com/
Deadline for signing-up: 16th Oct (Sun), 12pm.
As Freshers’ Formal is usually the largest formal (in scale) that CUMaS organises, do sign up ASAP to ensure your spot. It’ll be on a first-come, first-served basis, although we’ll try to give priority to freshers (both undergrads and postgrads).
2. Nottingham Malaysian Games 2011
A message from our Sports Officer:
Hello everybody!
It’s that time of the year again, when the Malaysian Society with the most amount of free time organise the Nottingham Malaysian Games. CUMaS has always sent a team and has been reasonably successful (last year we won gold in Mens singles badminton and squash).
What they have told us..
Indoor Sports
Traditional Sports
If you can play any of the sports above (What on earth is carrom???), please sign up to be a player. It’s fine if you are not a fantastic player, all levels of ability are welcome. You can do so by filling in this form –
https://docs.google.com/
Players will get free transportation to Nottingham and back. If you think you can’t play anything (Oh come on, give something a try), I’m afraid you will have to pay the bus fare, which won’t be much anyway (£3-£5, the committee is yet to discuss this). I’ve attached the rules and regulations Notts sent us, so do read up on the sport you are keen on.
Another incentive to go would be the Nottingham Malaysian Food Festival, to help you gain all the weight you lost from the sports. Also, you’ll get to catch up with your friends from other universities, which is actually pretty difficult outside Notts Games.
I’m afraid the deadline to sign up will be the 20th of October (Next Thursday), because there are some things which need to be settled (filling in the form, sorting out the registration fee etc).
Get keen!
Ian
3. Careers in Malaysia Day, London (5 November 2011)
Imperial College, London, has generously extended an open invitation to all current Cambridge students to attend their ‘Careers in Malaysia’ day on Saturday 5th November being held in London. The event will run from 10.30 (for registration) to 16.00 and will include a traditional Careers Fair, a series of company and industry sector presentations and, in addition, some companies are expecting to conduct interviews on the day.
Students attending from Cambridge will be expected to make, and pay for, their own travel arrangements to Imperial College in London.
More details on the firms attending and how to secure your place are available on our website diary for Saturday 5th November. Go to www.careers.cam.ac.uk and follow the link from “What’s On”.
