23rd April 2013
With the advent of Week 1 and the shadow of Tripos upon us, it’s sometimes hard to get excited about term starting again. But fret not! CUMaS has some exciting events lined up for you this Easter term, and if that isn’t enough (so demanding!), you can always visit your Welfare Officer, Lim Tian Xi for some manly love.

CUMaS Committee 2013/2014
1. MNight Dinner Payment Reminder
Livia might not have her money, but what she does have is a very particular set of skills; skills she has acquired over a very long career. Skills that make her a nightmare for people like you. If you let her money go now, that’ll be the end of it. She will not look for you, she will not pursue you (maybe). But if you don’t, she will look for you, she will find you, and she will eat your cake. Yeap, that special slice you’ve been saving. And then she’ll take your lunch money.
To save your cake, send your money (6 pounds!) to:
Sort code: 40-16-08
Account number: 12549263
Remember to state your name and “MNight’13 Celeb” in the reference field!
She also takes cash, but inform her beforehand as she needs to make the reservations!
2. Oxbridge Games
Rise and join us, as we go and harass,
Make fun of everything, that Oxford has,
Forgive me now, if this is too crass,
But come this Sunday, we’re kicking some… posteriors?
Funny, could have sworn that rhymed better in my head. Anyway, there’s still space on the bus for 14 lucky people, so join us this Sunday, we need our supporters! Who else will cheer for us and repeatedly call for the addition of oil? We’re also looking for ONE female player for Captain’s Ball to complete the teams and could use referees for the events if anyone is interested. So come join us, as an athlete, a supporter, as a Malaysian!
Sign up here on this snazzy new page on the website, courtesy of your Tech Officer, Han Rong.
Please remember to pay as you do so, lest you get a visit from our lovely Treasurer.

Check out the poster attached if you want to see an actual Pajama-Rama in its natural habitat!
Also, Sam, your Ents Officer has a little message for all you aspiring performers:
“For the first time ever, there will be a live band performing at the Garden Party – and we’re looking for CUMaS members to perform! If you’re interested in showing off your awesome music skills, please send me an email at samgh.93@gmail.com as soon as possible. We will have a meeting for all the performers shortly to discuss the song line up. Do sign up if you want to entertain your friends with a couple of awesome tunes!”
4. Outreach: KL
This summer, on the 17th August 2013, CUMaS-Outreach will having its first event in Malaysia; Outreach-KL. The event will target close to 200 students back home in Malaysia and will focus on three themes: Awareness, Connectivity, and Hope.
“We would like this event to be run by current and recently graduated students in order to create a greater sense of intimacy and to foster a stronger connection with the prospective applicants in attendance. As students, we have gone through the application process and have seen our juniors successfully go through the same and are sufficiently equipped to share about the technicalities of the applications process (Awareness). Furthermore, being in Cambridge, we know the right people, at the right colleges, doing the right subjects to connect prospective students to mentors and to people to assist them when they come to Cambridge (Connectivity). Crucially, we feel that the best way to communicate the message of hope is for people to see fellow Malaysian students having made it to Cambridge and to hear from these students themselves about their journey thus far (Hope).”
–External Officer, Victor Chang
If you are going to be around in Malaysia at the time and would like to be involved in this in any way, please do get in touch with your External Officer. We will also be having similar Outreach events in the other states if possible, especially in the regions with less awareness and information as we feel that is where we can make the greatest impact. Hence, if you’re from outside Selangor and want to set up an Outreach event in your area with us, it would be great if you got in touch.

6. New CUMaS Logo?
So, you might have seen a new CUMaS logo floating around on twitter and on some of the latest event posters. Still retaining the hibiscus design, we’ve spiffed it up it a bit for a cleaner and sharper look. The new logo is attached in this e-mail for you to check out if you haven’t seen it yet! Let us know how you feel about it, ideally by the end of April as that’s when we will likely begin using it officially if there are no strict objections.
